Born and bred in South Africa, his love affair with cinema began in the vibrant township of Sebokeng; where the flickering tales of Asian films on VHS ignited his passion for storytelling. Rangwetsane’s cinematic journey officially commenced at AFDA in Johannesburg, where he delved into the art of cinematography, graduating in 2008. Armed with the immersive education from one of the world’s premier film schools, he embarked on a global odyssey as a cinematographer. From the golden reels of 16mm and 35mm to the cutting-edge world of digital cameras, he has lent on his lens in diverse projects across continents. Honoured with multiple nominations and accolades, including a prestigious SAFTA nomination for Best Achievement in Cinematography, his 17-year tenure in the film and television industry has been a testament to pushing boundaries. From expansive sets to intimate productions, he thrives on the challenge of visual storytelling, perpetually seeking new collaborations with fellow artists.
